What is Hypnotherapy?

_Hypnotherapy can help a person locate the hidden causes of fears, phobias, and compulsions, as well as to enhance positivity and healing in one's life.

The use of hypnosis can be traced back thousands of years, but even today there is still that aura of mystery surrounding it.  So let's put some light onto the subject and clear away some of the most common misconceptions that many people have.

You are in control

_There is absolutely no question of being taken into a deep mysterious trance when hypnotised.  Indeed, a person can converse quite easily whilst in hypnosis.

You are fully aware

_A person in hypnosis is NOT asleep.  They are relaxed, it's true, and this level of relaxation will vary from person to person, but they are fully aware of their state.  Anybody can enter the hypnotic state except for very young children (up to the age of about 8 years old), those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time, and those who do not have complete mental faculty.

Beneficial to health

_Hypnotherapy can benefit health and healing.  It has also been shown to lessen the stress of surgery and, at the same time, promote healing.  The process is an excellent method to use if you want to give up smoking, and can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as EFT.  For many people, it may require only one session.

Please consult a qualified health professional before putting these ideas into practice for yourself or others.

Safe

_Hypnotherapy is safe.  Carried out by a qualified hypnotherapist, hypnotherapy is not to be feared.  Hypnotherapy can dramatically change your life for the better.  It's totally natural and completely safe.

Highly relaxing

_Hypnotherapy is a highly relaxing process.  Hypnosis is a state of both concentration and relaxation which is gently induced by suggestion, either from the person themselves or from the therapist.  It is a very pleasant, lethargic feeling.  Some have commented that they enjoyed the feeling so much they could have stayed in hypnosis all day!
